Almost Back!

Wow!  It has really been a long time and I am working diligently to get everything back up and running here and on YouTube.

I got a new computer and home network for Christmas so that is finally done.  I am at least connected now...slowly, but connected.

Somehow, my email got hacked yesterday though!  Luckily, my free anti-virus software caught it before it did any harm though!  (Now, I'm a FIRM believer in anti-virus!  Its a small price to pay for the piece of mind!)  It didn't harm my computer but the hacker sent emails to everyone on my contact lists on both my makeup address and my personal address so I scrambled to contact everyone I could before they opened the email and ended up like my BFF, Mandy, with a crashed computer.  I feel SO bad about that too!  Crummy thing...it happened while she and I were on the phone together!  Now, she is without a computer until next month when she visits back home to get it fixed!  I'm sorry honey....AGAIN!!!  So, as you guessed it, I have a new email address and I have closed my old ones!  If you ever have a question or a reason to contact me, please do so through the new address above!  :)  I try and check my account at least every other day!

Were also in the middle of remodeling our house as well.  We had some damage to our roof that the insurance company decided deserved a new roof and a new interior ceiling!  YAY!  So, to get new walls to replace the old, 80s paneling throughout the living areas, we decided to do the majority of the work ourselves to really get the most out of our money!  Yes....I helped put the roof on this house, put up drywall, and primed until I am just sick of it!  This has been my past two weeks!  All of my makeup and craft room stuff got crammed in our guest room and we have been living out of our two rooms this entire time.  Were putting the living room back together tonight because my father in law is coming to pick up his trailer tomorrow.  I spent my morning unloading 6200 pounds of shingles, molding, old sheet rock and insulation at the dump!  How glamorous!  LOL!

So, you see...just with the little I have shared, I am sure you can all tell that I have been overly busy this past, well, month!  I am diligently working to try and get a space to begin videos again and get back to blogging on a regular basis.  I will probably only be doing basic things.  I don't have a great deal of cash right now to try new products because I am still on the job hunt.  I may also start a craft channel or blog as well....IF I can find the time that is!  (Note: If you have a job and hate it, don't just quit!  Start looking because even the crummy jobs are hard to come by!  My advice for the day!)  I will do all that I can though.  I really miss doing YouTube and I miss talking to you guys on here and via email everyday!  :)  If for some reason all my efforts don't work out and I am unable to make videos or blog for any reason, I will certainly let you all know!  However, that is not the plan at this point!

Thank you all for being so patient with me and still subscribing!  It means a lot to me to open my accounts after so long and see that people are still coming by and wanting to stay!  (Even if it is just a few, it means a lot to me!  I may not have a million subscribers like some, but the ones I have I will always cherish!)

Take care and I will hopefully have the moment to talk to you all again soon!  Once the first stage of this portion of remodeling is finished, I will take post some before and after pictures for you all to see!  :)

Keep smiling!  :)

Review - Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Liner in True Black

You can find a full review on this product on my YouTube Channel NOW!

I have purchased a good deal of gel liners that were not Blacktrack Fluidline by Mac.  I know, I know, I should stay true when I find one that works well.  However, not everyone likes to purchase MAC no matter how many times I tell them that the $17 is worth it considering it will last FOREVER!  They only see the price tag and that they must take a department store trip to pick it up.  THIS is the main reason I had to have this one...it is easily attainable at your local drugstore, Target, or WalMart and constantly going on sale keeping the price tag around or below $8.

I rather enjoyed the formula.  You can see in the vid that I made sure to take notes about the wear throughout the day as to not miss anything for you guys.  It worked rather well in my waterline as well as on my lash line.  There was minimal fading...generally only where I rubbed my eyes or they watered profusely throughout the day that day.  However, by the end of the day, it was still looking decent and my complaints if any were about things that were not super relavant.

The consistancy is very creamy and BLACK.  It was not runny or clumpy and when I used one of MY liner brushes (NOT the one that came with it), I had great luck with no bleeding.  It glided on with ease and since I have been using this product, the double winged and reverse liner techniques have become very easy and second nature to me!  This is just an easy product at an easy price!

Make sure to check it out, the next time you are in your local drugstore!  If you have a review on this product, make sure to post it as a video response to the YouTube video on my  channel!  I would love to see you thoughts and opinions, especially if they differ from mine!

Have you picked up this product?  IF so, how long have you been using and why do you love it or hate it??  Let us all know in the comments below!

Much love always...xoxo!

What Did You Ask For?

I know there are many other celebrations during the holidays, besides Christmas. I can certainly appreciate each and every one of them. So, please know when I am talking about Christmas or the holidays, know that I mean every holiday around this time! I am showing no prejudice by saying Christmas…but that is what I celebrate, so it is sort of what I will lean more towards talking about. I apologize if that offends anyone. I certainly mean no harm.

That being said…I would LOVE to know what you all would like for Christmas! What have you asked for from your loved ones, Santa, or what are you planning to simply get for yourself! Yes, it is the holidays and it is better to give rather than receive, BUT every year, there is always something that I put off buying because I can hardly justify it in most cases. If I don’t buy this something for myself prior to the holiday, I will take some of the cash I get for Christmas and pick it up. Generally, Christmas money pays off some sort of debt or bill, but I always try to allocate some cash for something that I may have asked for that I didn’t get. If you are like that…I want to know about it!

You can post your list here in the comments section if you would like! I will also be doing a video on my YouTube page asking for video responses of your “Gift List” (which is what we will call it so we can cover all of the holidays! I would love to know what you all have asked for and it is a great way to tell your loved ones what you would like as well!

So, what are you waiting for?? Get to listin’!

Im Back!

I finally got back from my quick trip to the beach! I had a pretty good time since I got to go to the CCO! I was so pumped and ended up staying in there for 2.5 hours filming and chatting with the ladies that work there! I got offered a job and had I had my daughter with me...I would've taken it and left this crap town behind! How I would love to take it...but I really don't want to live on that island...only one way out when there is a hurricane! AHHHH!!! Maybe the next CCO I go to will offer me a job...that one IS in a town I would live in! (And actually planning to move to!)

Anyway...they carry all sorts of brands in there all the way from Clinique, Estee Lauder, & Bobbi Brown...to Origins & MAC...which is of course why I went! LOL! I had the best time hearing how the whole thing works and playing with all their stuff! I learned so much from the ladies that work in there about when stuff hits there stores, so I will plan my next trip around the schedule!

They had just started getting in products from MAC's Hello Kitty Collection and I was amazed at the prices! I ended up getting one of the blushes in Tippy...which I saw listed on eBay and the MUG forum for $30+!!! I got the thing...brand new, mind you...for $12.95! I stuck mostly to blushes getting a Flirt & Tease and Starknaked. I found a CreamColor Base in Pearl for $11 and walked out of there with a 219 for $16.95! I could have spend a friggin fortune in there!!! They just had so many things that I wanted!

I didn't end up with any new eyeshadows, because most of the ones they had, I already had or just really wasn't interested in. Most of those were just discontinued colors...nothing Limited Edition except for the Starflash Collection, which I already picked up on eBay. Their shadows were $10.50 each...and I have been getting them on eBay for cheaper, so I will just stick with that until my Pro card comes in...if it ever does! LOL!

I am going to start working on editing the footage that I shot. It is very choppy since I was trying to film only when there weren't people in there, but that was about impossible since it was Labor Day weekend and everyone and their momma was out shopping at the outlet mall that day! LOL! I didn't talk much in it either, so it will mostly be set to music and captioned, but you will at least get to see what all they had and how it was set up. (The parts that I did talk during, you really couldn't hear me because there were so many friggin women in there gushing about how cheap the MAC was! LOL!!!

Well, during my intro to the vid, I will go into greater detail about this particular shopping trip and I will also film a small haul for you guys...I say small because I just bought 5 items! (I did really good and didn't go over my budget! LOL! YAY!)

I hope you guys all had a fabulous Labor Day Weekend and I will let you know when the vids are posted and hook you up with some photos as well!!! Much love to you guys...as always! Take it easy and have a fantastical day! :)

Hey Blue Eyes - Inspiration Look on YouTube

I was SO inspired by Geisha1254's blue smokey eye look, that I decided to do a version of it myself! You can check out my live tutorial/look video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEGWuXGXkXM

She is a fabulous artist and her vision for color combinations is impeccable! I only hope that my version of this look is half of what hers is! I want to thank her for being such a fabulous inspiration and so nice to all her subscribers! Everyone that I have referred to her site has said the same things I have...she is simply amazing! :) You guys should make sure to go check out her site at www.YouTube.com/Geisha1254! You won't be disappointed!

Now....on to the products list!
Coastal Scents 88 Palette, of course!
Cover Girl Tropical Quad - Darkest Blue Color Only
Loreal Quad in Nila's Blues - Dark Navy Blue Only
Mac Eye Shadow - Gesso
Mac Powerpoint - Black Russian
Jordanna Easy Liner - Bliss
Channel Eye Shadow Base - Rose
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil - Milk
MAC DazzleLash - Black
Bare Minerals Big Tease Mascara - Black
Coastal Scents Gel Liner - Black
Maybelline Brow Color - Light Brown
Red Earth Blush - Sun Rush
Rimmel Bronzer - Sun Bronze
Bare Minerals - Well Lit Highlight Color
Bare Minerals - Warmth Contour
Bare Minerals - Light Foundation
Bare Minerals - Mineral Veil
Loreal True Match Compact Foundation - N2 Classic Ivory
Benefit Erase Paste - No. 2
Benefit Powderflage
Benefit Boi-ing Concealer - No. 1
Mac Chromeglass -
Scotch Tape
Sponge Applicators
Qtips
Makeup Wipes

I believe that is it! I know it seems like a lot, but most of the face products are just a part of my daily routine, plus I did some contouring which always adds extras!

You may need some specific types (not brands) of brushes to help acheive some of the effects of the eyes. I would suggest.....

* Pencil/Fat Liner Brush - I use Loew Cornell's Finch Shader Brush, you could use a Mac 219 or the liner end of the BE Rock N Roll Brush
* Smudger Brush - I used one end of the BE Rock N Roll Brush or you could use a stiff shader brush...that would work just fine!
* A small, flat shader for inner eye corner color
* Regular Flat Shader Brush can apply the rest of the colors, even the brow highlight. Just make sure to clean the brush in between colors so they don't mix! :)

Femme Couture Look on YouTube

Make sure to go to YouTube and check out the video! Here's the link... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSvIZT6euKo ...& MAKE SURE TO SUBSCRIBE!!! :)

Products Used for this Look:

Femme Couture Mineral Shadows in Pink Sand & Deep Amethyst, Mac Carbon e/s, Mac Nylon e/s, Mac Powerpoint Pencil in Black Russian, Smashbox Envy e/s, Maybelline Brow Powder in Lt. Brown, Ulta Clear Brow Gel, Loreal True Match Super Blendable Makeup in True Beige, Bare Minerals Foundation in Light, BE Mineral Veil, Benefit Boi-ing in #1, Benefit Erase Paste in #2, Benefit Powderflage, Channel Eyeshadow Base in Rose, BE Warmth, BE Well-Lit, Rimmel Bronzer in Sun Bronze, BE Blush in Pink Diamond, Maybelline Colorsensational l/s in Pink Sand 005 (what a conincidence!), Mac Lipglass in Pop Mode, Rimmel Foundation Primer, Mac Dazzlelash Mascara, Jane e/s sticks in Pink Pearl 02 & Island Breeze 01, Wet ‘N Wild e/s Stick in 130 (a champagne color…don’t know the name)….I think that just about does it with the exception of brushes and sponges!

I went haulin’ last weekend and ended up at Sally’s Friday evening to check out what they had in house. I have never tried their cosmetics, so I thought I would give their mineral line a try since all the products were on sale for $5 off 3 items! I purchased a gel liner as well as the two mineral shadows featured in this look. (Pink Sand and Deep Amethyst) They are okay besides being terribly hard to blend! This was the first time I had tried these shadows, so you are right there discovering them with me if you go check out the video on YouTube by clicking here -à
The shadows ended up being pretty shimmery as you can tell in the photos. I tried to tone them down with the matte, black carbon…when that didn’t work as much as I would have liked, I decided this could just be a going out look instead! I think too much shimmer on myself, really highlights my wrinkles, so I will be doing as little of that as possible! But, some of you that don’t share the eye lines that I have, would look SO gorgeous in this look!

Of course, you don’t have to go and purchase these exact colors and can use anything you have in your drawer! I know the CS 88 palette has many dupe colors and MAC makes a ton of shadows that would look, probably better, if I am being completely honest. For the price of $5.99 each, I am not too awful mad that they are hard to blend or not super pigmented. You can pretty much pack the color on, or I am sure apply them wet, to achieve a greater intensity just like a lot of other mineral companies out there.

I have yet to decide if I will be repurchasing these shadows or not. I guess I am sort of waiting to see how the other items from the line turn out to be. They did have some really pretty colors in eyeshadow, I just really wish they had some samples or something that I could look at up close and personal prior to purchasing! I guess not everywhere can be MAC or Ulta! LOL!
I will be doing a full review on Femme Couture Mineral Effects for you guys once I feel I have given every item I purchased, a full chance. You can also see what else I purchased at Sally’s and my other stops along the way in the haul video that will be posted next! J So, make sure to go check that out! I will be posting photos here on my blog of all the items I purchased along with as many swatches as I can make show up!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by to read this entry! Keep your eye out for many more to come! I am about to get to work on a series as well as my VERY long list of reviews that have been requested! I hope you guys have a wonderful day and don’t forget to sign up to follow here on my blog, at www.Twitter.com/VanitysEdge, and subscribe to my YouTube channel for more in depth reviews/hauls/looks… www.YouTube.com/VanitysEdge! I would love to have everyone’s support on this journey I am taking!

July Favs! There's a first time for everything!

I feel like July was a month of rediscovery of sorts! So many things happened in my life in general it's amazing that I even had a moment to notice makeup at all! Following the passing of my dog, getting a new puppy, and work slowing down a bit, I feel that I actually have a moment to get back on track with my passion! So, here is just a break down of a few of my favs from the month and some that I rediscovered when going through the mountain of drawers on my vanity!

I fell in love with my Lemon Aid (by Benefit) this month! When I purchased this product on eBay at the beginning of the summer, I absolutely hated it! It had claimed to be a primer, among other things. I found that it did it's job with neutralizing the color on my lids, but the primer part of the story hardly fit! So, I threw it back in my drawer planning to never use it again! But, low and behold, I found a use for this little pot of pure joy! The inner area of my eyes around my nose have a tendancy to look blue and almost bruised, so following UDPP/Erase Paste application, I dab a bit of the Lemon Aid in that area and my eyes are instantly brightened! I love this product!

After a great deal of searching, I found a CHEAP tinted moisturizer that works pretty well, as long as it isn't 97% humidity outside! LOL! This moisturizer is by Wet 'N Wild. I don't love the formulation, but the coverage and the color on me work pretty well under my Bare Minerals foundation. Plus, the price is SO right at around $3.50 a tube! For the money, it is worth a shot, I think!

When Marlena, our YT resident MUG, posted her eyeliner only look contest, I looked at it as an opportunity to scan all the drugstores in my area for liners I may not have found before! When I was in Walgreens, on this mission, I discovered a brand of liners (they also make glosses) that is super cheap, yet work super well! The brand is Jordana and I believe I purchased almost all of the liner colors they make as well as some of the lip liners out in their line! They have Kohl Kajal and Retractable Pencils in some of the most gorgeous colors I have ever seen! The colors I can compare to Urban Decay (the formulation is obviously different). These liners range in price from 99 cents to $3.99. I purchased their liquid liner in brown, which is like a marker, as well! I have been thoroughly pleased with these liners, for a drugstore brand!

Last, but certainly not least, has been my beloved Erase Paste (by Benefit)! I LOVE THIS PRODUCT MORE THAN ICE CREAM! (That's saying a whole lot since ice cream is my one weakness when it comes to food! LOL!) It covers the dark circles I often wake up with (from staying up "practicing" late every nite) and helps conceal blemishes that we all hate! This product comes in three color levels, so you will be able to find something that will work for you! I love to set it with Benefit's Powderflage to brighten these problem areas even more!

My top hair product has to be my Bed Head After Party! This product is what I use after styling to keep my hair from getting so frizzy in the humid air here! IT REALLY DOES WORK! The best part about it is that I stumbled across it at a discount store here in town and ended up paying only $3.50 for the bottle!!! (It retails for over $18 in drugstores here!) I couldn't ask for a better product to keep my flyaways at bay and keep my hair looking gorgeous and shiny all day!!

These are just a few of my top products for July! There are a great deal more that I will be putting into a video and posting on YouTube if you are interested. Once I have the link, I will edit this post so you can directly check out more of my favs if you are interested! I am going to be working on some contests for the next couple of days and will post some photos of my creations here to get you gal's opinions! (I value what my peers think about my work...that's what I feel makes us all better artists!)

Thank you all for following my blog! Once my numbers start to climb, I will more than likely post some give aways to say thanks, so spread the word and let's get the traffic flowing through this site!!! Also, make sure you got to YouTube, create an account and sub to my channel if you haven't already! You can click here --> www.YouTube.com/VanitysEdge and click the yellow subscribe button to be able to participate in some contests and giveaways that I will be having soon!!! Thanks again you guys! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Just an update for ya...

I wanted to let you guys know I have not forgotten all the blog posts that I promised. I have been, in fact, working on them and have a great deal of them finished. I am waiting to post until I post the YouTube video that corresponds, so the cross references make sense! I will begin posting these very soon!

I have been taking advantage of the amount of time I have had lately! My daughter went on a mini vaca just with her dad, so I have had a great deal of quiet time without the munchkin! I have used some of the time spending time with girl friends and shopping with my mom, but I have been concentrating a great deal on this love! I worked a lot on one contest entry in particular that I had hoped to come up with something worthy to turn in, but I didn't. I just didn't like how everything turned out! This entry was for the MUG eyeliner only look. The only thing I gained out of this was a crap load of liners!! LOL! I guess I wanted to have a great deal of these colors on hand and did want to try them, but I just wish I could have come up with SOMETHING! Oh, well! I will review the liners I came across for you guys very soon!

So, I just wanted you to know I have NOT forgot you guys! Just working diligently so when my daughter comes back, I don't have to use the time I should be spending with her prior to school starting, on making vids! Plus, since I got my hair all chopped off, I have to get up earlier to fix it, which means if I don't get in bed by 11 pm, I WILL NOT get up! (That cuts work time down as well! boo!) Let me know if you guys are interested in any reviews in particular! I am currently trying to save my cash for the MAC Fall collection (I want one of everything...litterally...i am being serious!) I have never loved a collection so much, so, I won't be able to buy a lot of items (from the drugstore or otherwise), but will be happy to review anything you have seen me use/purchase. I have a long line of them coming up but won't mind to add more or start a list for after I recover from the MAC haulin I will do later this month/first of next month!

Thanks so much for all your support! I really appreciate it! If you like my blog, let me know! Also, if you have any suggestions that would make it better (constructive critisism only-hater comments will be deleted), I would love to know! Once school gets into full swing, things will slow down a bit for me and I will get back on my normal schedule of posting daily/every other day for ya! Take care!

Reviews, Reviews, & more Reviews!

I want to say sorry...again! I am working on a lot of reviews right now but have been put down by a terrible ear infection. I did go to the doc yesterday so today I do feel a bit better! I am hoping to be able to stay awake past 9 pm to be able to work on some vids for my YouTube channel and get some photos/swatches/reviews up on here for you guys! I have a couple of items that I believe are missing out on some much needed credit!

As always, if you have some items you would like to see reviewed or any looks you would like to see carried out...let me know and I would be more than happy to do them for you! Maybe I will stop being sick so I can get back into the swing of things! LOL!

I AM going to be working on a look for my sister in law...well soon to be...for her wedding. Hopefully, she will let me do her makeup, but if not, maybe the look will inspire some of you for your special day! This will more than likely be my next look vid...so keep an eye open for that!

Feel free to contact me anytime and make sure to sub to my YT channel! I would love to release contest info and would certainly love to reach a great deal of people with my vids! My goal is to get partner by the end of the year...don't know if it will really happen, but we can all have hopes and dreams...right???

Blog Reviews

I have a lot of drugstore product reveiws that I will be posting here & on YouTube soon! (www.YouTube.com/VanitysEdge) I wanted to give you guys an idea on why I do the reviews on both spaces!

Here on my blog, I will of course post pictures and keep the review as short and sweet as possible! I feel that this will give my followers/prospective followers, a quick reference when thinking of purchasing these products! You can easily search my blog, as well as the web, from the Google search in the sidebar or toolbar above, to quickly locate a product you are wondering about! I will always make sure there are tags attached to each blog! Swatch photos will always be posted here as well, also for those wanting a quick reference!

Now, on YouTube, I will more than likely go into greater detail (of course) on these videos. I will of course show the product, any swatches, and you will more than likely get to see it on my face.

I will always try out these products for a few days in a variety of different ways as well. I don't think you should decide on a product the first day...every item deserves a chance (says my bank account!)! I love doing reviews...especially when they are requested! I feel requests make me really take notice because I want to provide the person requesting with the best information that I can! I would hate for someone to waste money or not get something just because of me!

This is also why I ask you to leave your comments and your experiences with similar products below or on the YT video!!! Of course, something I hate, somone else may like!! So, please....LET US KNOW!!! DON'T BE SHY!!! :)

So, I have finished with a few of the first posts, so check back soon as I just have to produce photos and they will be posted!!! This first round will be some drugstore products that my fellow MUGs and the recent sale at Walgreens help me come up with! Let me know in the comments below, via email (Vanitys_Edge@yahoo.com), twitter (www.Twitter.com/VanitysEdge), or by messaging/commenting on the review vids on YouTube (www.YouTube.com/VanitysEdge) what drugstore/highend products you would like to see reviewed that you haven't!! I would love to be your personal product tester!

Thanks for coming by today you guys! I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!!

Haulin, Haulin, Haulin

So....I went over to Walgreens yesterday per a lot of fellow MUGs advice! Seems they had a great deal of items on sale/clearance! I wish I would have had enough money to get everything that I truly wanted! LOL....always happens that way! Some of the products on super sale were Revlon Colorstay, HIP Paints, Sally Hansen, and Tons More! Loreal also has a new lipstick out as well as a new liqid liner (Stiletto!). I picked up as much as I could but still had wants! (What else is new?!?) I had some drugstore review requests on MUG and got some of those items in addition to the ones I just wanted.

So, this is just a heads up that I will be doing a haul video, hopefully this afternoon. I am wearing some of the products today so I can get some reviews together! Photos are coming soon as well!

I am super pumped about getting back into drugstore brands! I have been attached to my counter/highend items for so long, I really didn't truly know what was out there! I have learned a lot along the way and enjoy everyone that has been a huge part of steering me in the right direction as to what the real women out there are interested in seeing! Thanks to all of you fellow MUGs, blog followers, Tweets, & Subs!!!

I also want to take the time to THANK YOU LADIES THAT ARE FOLLOWING MY BLOG! You guys have been very nice and I hope that I can help you out with reviews, photos and whatever else you would like to see or hear me talk about! Comment or email me for requests, interests, or general comments! (Vanitys_Edge@yahoo.com) I love to hear anything you guys would like to say!!!

Also....make sure to follow me on Twitter! @VanitysEdge I love Twitter...it is so much easier than any other friend sites I have ever been involved with!!! You can send me requests there! Yay!!!

LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!

Covergirl Exact Lights Mascara Review

The Cover Girl Exactlights Waterproof Mascara is great! I love the formulation...glides on without clumping and creates longer, fuller lashes in an instant that look absolutely amazing! When I applied this morning, I really looked at them and my lashes looked VERY naturally long!

I also got in the pool after coating my lashes a million times and still had NO problems! I swam under water, stayed out for a few hours even and no issues what so ever! I was very impressed with this mascara! I would def buy it again!
