The Battle of the Primers - Coming Soon & I Need YOUR Help!

Primers…there are a million of them out there from special eye primers to shadow sticks to eye liners that you can use. So, which one works the best!? I figured the best way to find out was to sort of have a tournament of primers! I am going to do this the obvious way…wear two different primers each day and see which one out does the other. Whichever primer has the best results that day, will move on to the next competitor the following day. I will move through each primer I have and even try and get my hands on some more! (I don’t know if I will have time to film or photograph applying each primer in the mornings (because it is CRAZY at my house in the am), so you will just have to trust me with this!

I am going to start this as soon as possible, so I would like a little help from you guys! I would like to know if there are any eye primers that you would like to be included in the competition specifically. I will most likely have to purchase any of the new primers that are out there. I would like to try and keep the cost of each primer around $20 or so. Also, if there are any specific match ups you would like me to do, like a Paint Pot against TFSI, let me know that as well. Otherwise, I will start with UDPP & a Paintpot and move through them that way.
Hopefully, this will put to rest any questions we may have when it comes to primers! I am hoping to find the best one for me, specifically, and if I can help you guys out along the way, I would love to! I am probably one of the best subjects to do this on considering I have the most watery eyes on the face of the planet, wear contacts, and am always putting drops in my eyes. So, if it is going to stay on me…it will stay on most anyone!

Give me some feedback you guys! I'd love to start the competition soon!  I am going to start rounding up some of the primers I don't have so make sure to comment on the ones that you would like to see so I can get those as well!  I was hoping this would at least give us something to do while I am on my forced YouTube hiatous.  Thanks!!!

I would love to know the outcome. I use TFSI and paint pots. My primer has been acting all weird on me and creasing lately and I'm not sure what the problem is. I've never had that problem before. Anyway, would love to see what happens with the battle haha!

I'd like to see what you think of Bare Escentuals' Prime Time for Eyes. You can get that at Ulta, Sephora, or a BE boutique. You can probably get a sample at Sephora or the boutique, to keep your costs down. :)

I'd love to see what you think of Benefit's Stay Don't Stray primer! It's $24 but I've heard a lot of good stuff about it and would love to know if it's true :) x

I'd be curious to hear what you think of LORAC's Behind The Scenes Eye Primer ($20/.5 oz. at Ulta). I'm new to primers and got this one because it's oil, fragrance and paraben free, but I'm still on the fence. You might also want to check out Jesse's Girl Eyeshadow Transformer (approx $5 at RiteAid). It's a slightly different type of product that's intended for lining, but when used all over gives some really interesting (and long wearing) foil effects. Can't wait to see your results!

I would love it if you included some "off-label" types in your primers. I've used the monistat chafing gel for a while now and just bought the Rimmel primer. I also use the HIP creme eyeshadow as an eye primer and wondered how it stacks up against "on-label" use by the genuine article.

Monistats chafing gel
You can purchase the next two at QVC.com
Laura Geller Eye Spackle Primer
Mally Beauty Cream to Powder Eye Shadow Base
Estée Lauder 'Bronze Goddess' Liquid Eyeshadow
Estée Lauder 'Double Wear' Stay-in-Place ShadowCreme
Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Eyeshadow Base

Great idea! I've done something similar (never did a post) and I ended up liking UDPP out of many primers, including MAC Paint, Paint Pots, Loreal HIP paints, Mark Kay Primer, ELF Studio Primer, and some others I can't remember right now *my lids must be the oiliest lids on earth, they crease as I'm putting on a BASE, it's crazy, I also wear contacts!

WOW! I LOVE to see that you all are so interested in this! Thanks for all the suggestions! I will try and get as many into the battle as possible. There may be some that I won't be able to get my hands on due to availability in my area. I will work to pick up as many as I possibly can though!!! I PROMISE! I will be doing a video post on this battle on YouTube soon. I will let you all know what I have during that video and pick up as many additional ones you guys have listed here along the way.

I DO have the Benefit Stay Don't Stray, SabraRose, so you will for sure get to see how it holds up to other cult favs! I will most likely be doing a review about it on YouTube soon!

Apriltini, when I first started wearing makeup, I began with an undying love and affection for all things BE! I still LOVE the brand and continue adding to my collection. However, I am allergic to the PrimeTime Eye :*( So I won't be putting it in the battle. I will say this, I DID like the primer when I used it. I went through 2 tubes of it thinking it was the eye liner I was using, mascara or foundation. Then my BFF told me it was prob the primer! When I stopped using it, no more itchy watery eyes! However, when I was using it, it worked really well for my BE shadows. It was a bit hard to blend for me, but that was easily over looked! If you think of another primer you would like to see, let me know!

As for off brand primers, Denise from Ark, if you have specifics, you just let me know here, on the YT vid once it goes up, or via email and I will see what I can hook up!!!

I REALLY appreciate all of your suggestions and comments! PLUS, a HUGE THANK YOU to all my new followers! I really hope you guys enjoy the battle and if you have any suggestions or comments on how I can improve this blog for YOU GUYS, please let me know via email at Vanitys_Edge@yahoo.com! Like I said previously, the battle will be taking place on YouTube as well, so make sure you guys are subbed over there to follow! www.YouTube.com/VanitysEdge I hope to see you all there!
Much love always! xoxo Laura

I'm so glad to find another BE girl like me. :D Too bad the primer caused you problems. I can't think of any others that haven't already been mentioned. I'm looking forward to the results. :)

BTW, you could always stop by mineralmadness.com and indulge in some BE insanity. :D
